Memory Sketching by Steven Silver

I came across this video on youtube by Steven Silver. In this video he shows a quick memory sketch from a person he found interesting om the train. Drawing from memory could be a great and fun exercise as it helps you observe the world around you and get captured by something others take for granted. I am going to try this out as there are a lot of crazy people here to draw from :P

Visit to the Shell Museum in Corfu

Strangely enough, after all those years on this island I never visited this impressive museum which is not that far away from where I live. I thought it would be great for my project to have a look at real sea creatures, corals and shells. I was gobsmacked how amazing the under water world is and this visit has inspired me a lot. What I found mostly interesting was the variety of shapes, sizes and colours of sea shells and the textures of the sea creatures. I am definately going to use reference from this trip. :D

Sea-Creature Concept

Not quite how I imagined it. This is just a quick experiment.I wanted to make its mane turn from solid to liquid water then end up evaporating. As I said before..too much of a horse! Whoops... :O

Head Shapes based on Horses and Dinosaurs

That was fun :) I am liking the idea of a horse spliced with a dinosaur- with fluidity of course to make it more sea-like.

Research on Head Shape: Dinosaur Heads and Horse Armours

I am looking for a very strong head shape for my Creature like the ones some types of Dinosaurs had and were excellent defence against enemies. So this 'shield' thought process brought me to Horse Armours aswell. I like the interesting shapes of them and how they make any one look super bad-ass!  :D

Insomnia kicks in: Time to Draw!

Right it's nearly 2am and I finally felt like drawing cartoon animals. Maybe I've been looking at them a lot lately :P

Sea Creature Concepts- 1 & 2

Just a couple of  quick Sea Creatures inspired by Horses-obviously. But I think they are a bit too much of horses :/

Inspirational Animals and Locations

So this is a huge list of Animals that inspire me. I am looking into elegant creatures which flow gracefully and have some grasping features. I love the horse manes, the way the flying fish glides on water, the lionfish's antennas, the sea shells' complex structure with spikes and how the swan stays on water as if it flies in the sky.
Some animals features have inspired me too like hooves, bird legs and antlers. There is so much I want to do and I don't know where to start from.

Here are some beautiful beaches I found online. I can imagine my creature being born out of the waves that are generated from the crash of the water with the rocks near the sea side.
