Since I am technically done with the first Unit's Project I am going to write about what I thought about these exciting last 5 weeks. Looking through my blog I realised how much I've achieved and all the cool stuff I've learned to do so far in such a short amount of time, which is what I love about this course. Firstly, I had the opportunity to work with 'real' computer programmes for the first time in my life and I am proud to say I managed to do modelling, lighting, rendering, animation and and a lot more tasks in Maya (which I am still struggling with but I hope I will get better later) . Photoshop was another challenge aswell but even though I've never used it before I am pretty pleased with my outcome- and yes! I finally got to use a graphics tablet and got really into it! I really enjoyed the life drawing lessons and got better in observing the human body and its proportions. I found the idea generation task very interesting as I got a first taste of how small ideas can lead to something big and learnt how important it is to show every speck of our idea development. I believe film reviewing really improved my critical thinking and made me look at films from a different point of view. In addition, researching and planning my essay along with all the referencing enhanced my writing skills (I'm still a bit clumsy in writing sometimes - damn! why did I have to be bilingual?) Oh! I now know how to use a blog and thanks to it I got some very helpful feedback from both tutors and coursemates! Finally, I realised I am good at time management! ( HURRAY! :D)OH! And one very important thing.. I feel very happy I met so many good and interesting people even though I've only been in uni for a bit more than a month. A lot of them are very good at their work and I am glad I had the opportunity to learn from them. All in all, I would like to say a big Thank You to all my tutors for their help and support and my coursemates who helped me through some difficulties I had during this first unit.
Looking forward to the next project... :)
P.S : I now started drinking coffee to keep me awake thanks to maya.... :P (oh dear...)
Hey Andriana - it's very encouraging to read this! It's only been five weeks, and yes, on this course we make you work SO hard and expect a great deal. Right now, I'm still a bit of a 'voice in the darkness', but I'm going to get to know you all very much better - starting on Friday! You are going to have a great time here - you're going to learn loads, and your confidences are going to grow and grow. Bring it on!!!
