Texturing and Colouring My Final Concept

After colouring  I started texturing my final piece using photographs I took myself.. These are just my first steps on it but I am not sure if it works or not. Is it better plain or this older look?

    it's better without the very explicit ageing - but I'm guessin there's a 'middle way' between the super-clean and the uber-old...
