Inspiration: Animals Real and Imagined by Terryl Whitlatch

Book Review: Animals Real and Imagined

After a bit of research on the web I came up with this mouth watering book on Creature Design by Terryl Whitlatch. I absolutely love the way he combines all known creatures to create new ones. But he is not doing it randomly-like we did on our first Anatomy Unit he is trying to create the creatures again from inside out. He  meticulously combines the skeletons and muscles of the creatures and pays great attention on the textures and colors. Besides creature concept Art there are also stylised Character Designs. I am really considering buying  this now :D

  1. This looks great, Andriana - a brilliant resource, especially for all those new first years when they rock up in September and are spliced with an animal from the mysterious blue box... Would you be kind enough to do be a favour and create a duplicate post about this on the group blog, with a title something like Creature Design: Terry Whitlach, and then label the post with 'creature design' 'character design' 'CGAA Unit 1' 'Terry Whitlach' 'pre-production' 'art direction' etc.

Cheers! And I look forward to seeing more of your own character designs on here soon. :D

By the way - it's STILL raining here :(
