Edgar Allan Poe

Here is a bit information on Edar Alan Poe's life and writing style: He was was an American writer, poet ( born in 1809-1849) and was considered part of the American Romantic movement. Contributing greatly to the genres of horror and science fiction, Poe is  best known for his gothic-like writing style and his themes that explore the question of death, the decomposition of the body and the concern of premature burial. His psychologically thrilling tales examine the depths of human psyche earned him much fame during his lifetime and after his death which also makes him one of the originators of both horror and detective fiction. In popular culture, Poe has appeared as a fictionalised character and often representing the Mad Genius or Tormented Artist.

'Poe’s verses illustrate an intense faculty for technical and abstract beauty, with the rhyming art to excess, an incorrigible propensity toward nocturnal themes, a demoniac undertone behind every page. … There is an indescribable magnetism about the poet’s life and reminiscences, as well as the poems.'
