Pop up Book Experiments in Maya

I've been very concerned about my project idea today. After having a talk with Lydia and Simon about my idea, they both suggested different ways I could achieve my pop up book, but I still don't know which is the best and easiest way, so I experimented with Maya to see how I can make it work. I've tried all sorts of ways to make simple plains unfold, including adding actual joints (which took me ages redoing and were quite frustrating). But for now I think by just grouping planes and using simple pivots I've managed to make this simple animation...not exciting at all but it is a start.

I am hoping to actually achieve something since I set myself this very hard task .. :/
